Food, Faith & Football
Ministering to Area High School Football Players
ABOUT FOOD, FAITH, & FOOTBALL
This fall, Food, Faith & Football celebrates it’s fourth year ministering to High School football players. Each week, we feed them a big meal and bring in a guest speaker with a sports background to share their testimony. We began small – the first year included only the Lakeshore freshman team; the second year added the Lakeshore JV team; and this past year we grew to include freshman, JV & Varsity players from both Lakeshore and St. Joe. Between both groups we averaged 110 boys every week, plus a handful of cheerleaders. This fall, we are excited to include players from Benton Harbor.
All of our helpers, coordinators, cooks and speakers do so from the graciousness of their hearts and because they have heard the calling from God to do so. We are all excited about what God has in store for this expanding ministry!
NEW PROGRAM - FOOD, FAITH & BAND FAMILY
We are excited to start a new program with the Lakeshore High School band! Band members and their friends are invited to join us each Monday at 5:00 pm in the Lakeshore High School cafeteria.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT US
We are a Missional Community outreach of The Chapel, but we do not promote any one church as we conduct our ministry. As branch of The Chapel, we receive the accountability we require, but because our ministry is so big and growing, their support doesn’t cover all of the financial needs we have to run this growing program. Here’s how you can help:
- Hands on: Many hands make light work! Each week we need help with set up (3:00 to 5:00 pm), serving food (5:00 to 6:00 pm), and clean up (6:30 to 7:30 pm). Email Jenn VanDeventer at email@example.com, or call or text to 269-369-0426 to help.
- Exposure: Promote our ministry by posting flyers at your place of business.
- Connections: Who do you know? We are always looking to share our ministry with local churches (the congregation, small groups, or elder boards) in order to get the word out for the needs we have. We are also searching for people with a sports background who have a powerful testimony and would be willing to share with our students.
- Funding: Please help support our ministry financially by giving a tax-deductible donation. We are expanding the program as God opens doors, but we are in need of patrons to help make this happen and continue the ministry we already have. Tax-deductible donations can be made to the program (please make a note in the envelope with the check that designates it for ‘Food, Faith & Football,’ but do not write anything on the check) and make the check payable to The Chapel. Mail checks to 4250 Washington Ave., St. Joseph, MI 49085.
HUDDLE UP FOR HUNGARY 2017
Huddle Up for Hungary is a group of High School football players that are preparing to travel to the Word of Life camp in Toalmas, Hungary (eletszava.org) to teach American football at their summer sports camp in July 2017. We are raising funds to pay for travel expenses, football supplies (to donate to the camp) and donations to the local gypsy ministry in Hungary. If you would like to contribute a tax-deductible gift, please make your check out to: The Chapel, 4250 Washington Ave., St. Joseph, MI 49085 with a note in the envelope that states you would like to donate to 'Huddle Up for Hungary.' Do not write anything on the memo line of the check to ensure a tax-deductible contribution statement at the end of the year.
