Pack a Backpack

for DHHS Foster and Local School Kids

Once again we are collecting backpacks and supplies to donate to kids in foster care and students at local schools.

Kids in foster care are often moved to a new home on short notice and appreciate the gift of a backpack filled with emergency supplies. The backpacks for students help all children have backpacks and supplies similar to those of their classmates. Our goal is to fill and donate 110 backpacks.

Please read the list below carefully when shopping because it is important that the backpacks have similar supplies in them:

  • 110 New Kid/School-style Backpacks!
  • Small, inexpensive ($4-$7) stocking stuffer-type gifts
    Example: small stuffed animals or
    toy cars.
  • Small tissue packets
  • Markers
  • Erasers
  • Glue sticks
  • Kids soap
  • Lice kits
  • Folders
  • Crayons (24 pack)
  • Pencil sharpeners
  • Pencil pouches
  • Kids body wash
  • Combs/Brushes
  • Kids shampoo
  • Colored pencils
  • Rulers
  • Spiral notebooks
  • Deodorant
  • Hair ties
  • Small hand sanitizer

Chapel youth will be packing the backpacks in late summer. Cash donations (checks payable to The Chapel marked “Backpacks”) will purchase emergency clothing for the foster children.

Bring your donated items to church July 22-August 19 and place them in the bins that will be located at the Missions kiosk.
