ABF "Hot Topics" Summer Quarter

June 3 - September 2

Join us as we explore how to approach difficult topics from a Christian perspective. You’ll be informed, equipped, and challenged to address these areas biblically, theologically, and practically. Each ABF will begin in their respective rooms, then combine for the teaching time in the MPR. No need to sign up. All adults are welcome, so please join us!

Pathfinders - 30s-40s (Room 153)
SALT - 50s-60s (Room 154)
Foundations - 20s-30s (Room 101)

10:35 am ABFs
Kingdom Seekers - 60+ (Multi-Purpose Room)
Koinonia - 50s-60s (Room 154)
Single Purpose -Women who are solo on Sundays (Room 156)

Each group will meet in their designated rooms until the sessions begin. All sessions meet in the MPR 9:35-10:20 a.m. and 11:10-11:55 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

Topic: Sexual Fidelity
Teacher: Steve Murray
Why is sexual sin so prevalent, even among Christians?! What are the warning signs and what can we do about it? This class will address these questions, but also help us understand  why sex is actually a beautiful gift from God.

July 1
Topic: Spiritual Gifts - Part 1
Teacher: Fred Frazee
All Christians are promised aid from God in the fulfillment of our individual calling.  This two lesson study will offer insight for Christians who hope to know and employ the gifts that God has equipped them with.

Learn what you need to know in order to survive the coming apocalypse!  Join us for a two-week boot camp as we take an in-depth look at Jesus’ Olivet Discourse in Mark 13.

The "Do's and Don'ts" of helping those in grief, and practical ways and ideas on how to walk with them.

August 5
Mission Minded Sunday

August 12 (We will meet in the Multi-Purpose Room at 9:00 and 10:35 a.m.)
Topic: Hispanic Immigration: Invasion or Opportunity
Teacher: Carlos Guadagno
In today's political climate, immigrants are treated as scapegoats of society's problems and as pawns used by others who seek to accumulate more power. God calls us to view today's immigrants by the light of His Word. We need the biblical lens in order to see through the clouds of political loyalties and economic outcomes.

August 19
Topic: Mastering the Habits of Technology Before They Master You
Teacher: Kirk Dunsbergen
Do you have control of the technology that you use at work and at home, or does it have control over you? Learn what the Bible has to say about the use of technology and how to keep it from becoming a "god." Also, learn practical advice from class peers on how they master technology.

August 26
Topic: How Do I Deal with Depression and Anxiety?
Teacher: Rich Watson
In the high-stressed world we live in, even Christians are impacted and face mental health difficulties such as depression and anxiety.  We will look at common factors and treatments in both depression and anxiety disorders. 

September 2
